The Grateful Dead - This is Rare...a treasure

There are no words to describe...Dark Star (also the name of a wierd hippy sci-fi, which is also worth a look - and while you're at it you could check-out Silent Running).

And maintaining the theme...you should see MOON with Sam Rockwell.

Excellent example of 'Cutting on Movement"

To ensure that you have smooth, unnoticed cuts between shots, it is best, if possible to cut on movement, so that you carry the viewers eye from one shot to another.

To help this, don't have the thing that is moving go completely out of the shot and have the moving object in the next shot starting just in frame, so that the momentum is continuous from one to the other - it is eaier to show it than to explain it so watch the clip and you should see what I mean.

Metallica: 'The Unforgiven'

The use of LIGHTING and SHADOW to create TEXTURE is how ATMOSPHERE is created in this music promo.

Metallica : 'Until it Sleeps'

It's the attention to detail in the ART DIRECTION of this video that makes it 'visually' so effective.

Green Day: 'Basket Case'

Green Day - Basket Case

Analysing the SUBJECT MATTER thoroughly allows you to come up with original ways to interpret the material you have to work with.

'The Kids Aren't Alright'...oh, but I think they are!

This video uses MOTION TRACKING and MASKING through software such as AFTER EFFECTS in order to achive the 'morphing' effect of the figures.

Listen to what he says about how he plans out his edit.

The Making of: SE7EN

Please note:
The use of Back-lighting and flourescent Kino-flo lights.
The use of close-ups..
Note how the actors discuss the 'back-stories' of the characters they play - they get alot of this information from the Treatment provided by the writers of the Script or Screenplay.

Underwater Sculpture: Jason Taylor

The Underwater Sculpture Park is the work of sculptor Jason Taylor from the UK, who has a passion for creating fantastic and unique pieces of work depicting Grenada’s colourful history and folklore and placing them underwater.

All of the sculptures are in beautiful clear shallow water easily accessible by divers and snorkelers. The sculptures end up creating artificial reefs, and enhancing the marine environment.

Deep Forest

Look at the use of 'frames' & 'framing' in this video....And
the repetition of pattern or shapes, created by people, the
landscape, the director and the editor.

Baz Luhrmann: Everybody's Free (to wear sunscreen)

"what ever you do, don’t congratulate yourself too much or berate yourself either – your
choices are half chance, so are everybody else’s...."
